2014 SAG Awards: The Best Beauty Looks

19 January 2014 by

There were some dazzling dresses at last night's SAG Awards, including Lupita Nyong'o flawless floor-length Gucci gown, Michelle Dockery's monochrome J. Mendel frock and Jennifer Lawrence's sparkly strapless Dior number. Luckily the hair and beauty looks were fit to match the effortless fashion ensembles with some top spring / summer 2014 trends appearing on the red carpet.

While long and lucious waves were still a firm favourite, the SAGs saw the return of the elegant updo with Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Garner offering an undone take on a classic Hollywood style. In terms of makeup, while some went bold - we're thinking Lupita Nyong'o's blue eyeshadow and cherry lip - natural and nearly-not-there makeup was the night's overall winner.

1. Think Pink

Cate Blanchett led the way with her romantic blush colour palette, which complemented her pale pink Givenchy gown. This was also seen on Laura Charmichael, whose slicked back locks accentuated her glowing skin - a perfect match for her Vionnet dress. Jennifer Lawrence opted for a smoky eye to go with her Dior disco dress, but like Cate and Laura, kept her lips nude.

2. Retro Updos

Amy Adams was every inch the old school Hollywood starlet with her Veronica Lake kinks and pinned up curls showcasing the unusual neckline of her Antonio Berardi dress. Kerry Washington took a risk with her two-piece Prada outfit, but it paid off thanks to a simple bun and black headband. Jennifer Garner went for a messy updo, focusing all the attention on those earrings!

3. Hello Hollywood

Those red heads just can't resist the volume, can they? This is classic Julia Roberts, soft in the front and big, glossy Hollywood curls. Claire Danes' waves weren't as pronounced, but the look was equally pretty and feminine, while Isla Fisher ramped up the sex factor with a little more lift in her side-swept tresses. Three fairly similar looks, but slight variations make the difference.
