Peter Philips (WWD)
News flash! Peter Philips, ex-creative director of Chanel make-up has just been announced as the new head of Dior make-up. Way to go, Peter! In his new role as creative and image director of Christian Dior make-up, Philips will be responsible for creating and formulating the beauty brand’s entire make-up range as well as working on looks for catwalk shows and major campaigns. Job envy? Us too!

Philips was creative director of Chanel make-up until February last year and was the brains behind the brand’s Illusion D’Ombre eye shadows and the sell-out Le Vernis nail hues Jade, Mimosa and Particulière, so you can only imagine how excited we are to see what lies ahead for his venture with Dior. What’s more, Philips was responsible for some of the simply amazing Chanel catwalk looks (remember the golden faces at the Dallas Metiers D’Art show in December?) so stay tuned… we’re predicting great things. What’s more, our beady beauty eyes couldn’t help but notice that Philips was absent at several Paris Fashion Week shows earlier this month, giving fuel to the fire that he has been gearing up to a big career move for quite some time. Either way, us beauty ladies are beyond excited and can’t wait to re-stock our new season beauty bags with some Philips-inspired Dior offerings.
Make-up legend Pat McGrath has created the beauty looks at Dior’s ready-to-wear and couture shows for over a decade, but the addition of Philips on the cosmetic team can only be a good thing, right? As Claude Martinez, president and chief executive officer of Parfums Christian Dior said in a statement, “His talent and his unique and modern vision of beauty are recognised around the world.”

Philips himself added, “I am honoured by the responsibilities that are entrusted to me by Christian Dior Make-Up, whose values, savoir-faire and innovation I respect.” Stay tuned girls, stay tuned…
