Max Factor’s Crème Puff Celebrates Its 60th Birthday With An Amazing New Video

When a beauty product is still standing 60 years later we know it must be good. What’s more, when its formula remains pretty much the same as it did back in 1953, we reckon this might just render the product with total ‘cult classic’ status! Well, happy 60th birthday Max Factor Crème Puff, as this year the iconic powder celebrates a pretty big birthday. What’s more, to mark this momentous occasion, our good friends over at Max Factor have not only re-launched the product in beautiful gold packaging but have also unveiled an awesome video recreating one of the original 1953 adverts.

Max Factor’s make-up artist Mel Arter was on board to help create this rather brilliant new video and has fond memories of Crème Puff from when she was younger: “My first job was working in a chemist as a Saturday girl. Crème Puff used to fly off the shelves. There was such a demand for it. My grandmother was a very glamorous lady. She didn't go anywhere without hers.” In fact, when Crème Puff was launched back in 1953, it quickly became the go-to product for women everywhere. It worked so well back in the 50s as the beauty trend then was for flawless skin, but a flawless complexion that also retained a certain amount of radiance and luminosity. Fast forward 60 years and this is still the case today and it’s pretty amazing that the original formula has hardly been altered over the years. The clever formula has millions of light reflective particles so the skin stays matte and fresh but looks glowy and lit from within. A total beauty classic? We think so!

Another stunning original advert from 1953 (Ketchum)

As Mel Arter explains, “Crème Puff is so iconic because of the history that is attached to it. Its purpose was to specifically serve the screen icons of the 50s, to create this beautiful canvas that had luminosity as opposed to a flat powdered look that had gone beforehand. Women identified with this and too wanted to achieve that beautiful flawless finish. This still stands today. Whereas trends come and go, that perfect skin finish will always be desired and identified with Crème Puff.”

Well Happy 60th Birthday Crème Puff- and here’s to the next 60! Check out the video right here. Enjoy!
