Made Up: Lorna Morello Is This Week's Beauty Screen Icon

One of the best things about make-up is keeping your look fresh – whether to complement an outfit, boost your mood or just experiment. To give you some inspiration, say hello to Made Up. We'll be bringing you our favourite experimental styles from a variety of film and TV characters. All you have to decide is: who do you want to be today?

I want to be: Lorna Morello

Why? She’s one of the funniest characters in Orange is the New Black, not to mention the inmate with by far the strongest look. There’s a reason Piper elects her to write a beauty column for their Big House newsletter – this convict knows her way around an eyelash curler, and that a decent red lippy is (almost) enough to get you off the hook for anything. Stalking aside.

Get the Lorna look

1. Morello wouldn’t be Morello without two key ingredients: delusionality, and a distinctive red-blue shade of lipstick. Seventeen’s Stay Pout in Date Night (£4.49) is a good purse-friendly match.  (Delusions are unavailable at Boots.)

2. Lorna’s look is old school glamour, albeit one achieved with counterfeit makeup which is hidden, well frankly we try not to think about where exactly. Her romantic ideals are reflected in her classic Hollywood finger waves – some tips on how to achieve them from Schwarzkopf here. The main ingredient (beside patience) is styling mousse, try Schwarzkopf got2b 2 Sexy Volumizing Spray Mousse (£4.07/250ml) for voluminous curls.

3. For peepers worthy of Nicky’s affections, keep things traditional with a sparing sweep of black liquid or gel liner – we like Bobbi Brown’s Perfectly Defined Gel Liner (£18) in either black or dark truffle shades. Offset this with - what else - Benefit’s BADgal Mascara (£17.50), perfect for naughty-but-nice convicts.

4. We can but imagine what Litchfield’s most glamorous smells like, but we’re 99.9 per cent certain she’d be a sucker for Tom Ford’s latest fragrance, just like we are. Available from September 1st, TOM FORD Signature Velvet Orchid Fragrance (£72) is as rich and sophisticated as an imaginary fiancé. Worth breaking out for.
