Last night we raised a glass (of Bourbon cocktails, to be precise) with Rimmel girls Kate Moss, Georgia May Jagger and newbie Rita Ora to toast 180 years of Rimmel London at a birthday bash at the London Film Museum. Kate Moss, who has been shooting Rimmel campaigns for over 10 years (gulp), proved she is still the queen of London cool arriving in a dramatic studded cape werking it outside a Rimmel black cab, with her face plastered across it. Mossy was classic 'I'm with the band' Kate as she wore a black skinny jean, a black crystal top and a studded black cape. Hubby Jamie Hince was also glued to her arm, as the pair were super adorable giggling in the corner of the VIP area.
Georgia May Jagger went wild in the Rimmel swivel chair yesterday afternoon, as she had her hair teased into mahoosive afro curls and sported green shimmery winged shadow. Her dress was equally theatrical as she was drenched in sequins in a super short zig-zag metallic Julien MacDonald cocktail frock.
New Rimmel girl Rita Ora went patriotic rocking a red tartan suit, with her trademark red pout (natch). She performed three songs, including an amazing cover of Outcast's 'Hey Ya', then talked about her new line of lip crayons for Rimmel. Rita played down her pouting skills as she said she can't compete with Kate and Georgia, but admitted that she has been practising those four words all week. She then moved to the back of the stage, did one almighty hair flip and performed her very best 'get the London look.' Mossy eat your heart out.
As for her new collection Rita told us: 'They really listened to everything I said. I said I want to make them with bright colours.' The one area Rita didn't want to take any direction was with the lipstick names as she said: 'I also said please can I make the names up myself.' The savvy star didn't give anything away as she joked: 'You have to buy it to read the names.'
To mark 180 years of Rimmel, they staged a catwalk show featuring iconic London looks, from the East London hipster to the 80s goth to 'All You Need Is Love' hippie. The show even included Mary Poppins and a psychedelic Austin Powers girl with trippy eyelids. Rita said that the look she was most passionate about in the show was disco as 'I love disco music and the punk theme -it's so incredible the difference in generations when you see it like that. I'm learning a lot!'
