In today's brand spanking new issue, which FYI is the Christmas bumper issue packed with all manner of lovely things, we're talking hardcore beauty. Forget savvy skincare, hair heroes or any fragrance news, today's issue features a pretty punk beauty story that's one of our favourites of the year (if we do say so ourselves!). Titled Rock'n'Kohl, the story was shot in New York a few months ago and shows you just how to work the bag-girl party look in style.

With a week to go until the big day, now is the perfect time to experiment with your look and find something that suits you. The rocker girl makeup move was seen all over the catwalks, from Roberto Cavalli's chic show to Prabal Gurung's much more heavy eye look - honestly there's something to suit everyone. Click through our gallery and take inspiration from the models backstage working the Rock'n'Kohl look...

Ashley Isham

Make your eyes dazzle with a heavy dose of punky eyeshadow and a killer red lip. Follow a cat-eye shape when you apply the colour, which works best in a darker shade, and this will leave you with a rock-chic makeup look. Keep bronzer to a minimum to prevent you looking too TOWIE-like.

John Galliano

It's all about the eyes with this look and any eye colour is suitable - yes keep layering on, the more the merrier with this trend. If you fell you need to break yourself into the trend gently then for-go the rouge lip in favour of a heavy smoky eye only. It's a winner with the boys too which helps!

Narciso Rodriguez

A fancy pop of colour works a dream with this beauty look and you want Debbie Harry in mind when doing this yourself at home. The bonus with this is that you don't need to keep the look to clean and neat - in fact a few mascara spoldges here and there add character to the look. After all, which punk princess ever had immaculate makeup?!

Prabal Gurung

Blue is the hue with the Rock'n'Kohl trend as it's both flattering and rocker. Blue works best if you have blue or green eyes, and if you have blonde hair, then it's a total winner. Arm yourself with a variety of brushes to ensure you can have an even base, precise application of colour and a thin brush for any finishing touches.

Roberto Cavalli

Arizona Muse looked stunning working the Rock'n'Kohl trend backstage at the Cavalli show. Here she works it in a chic and sophisticated manner, using a combo of khaki and purple to brighten her eyes and add contouring to the area. Ensure you use a sheer base of foundation pre-makeup too for a model-worthy flawless face.

Sonia Rykiel

Similarly at Sonia Rykiel, modelista Cara Delevingne nailed the Rock girl look - well she is basically a proper rock gal all the time! The teal blue eyeshadow draws attention to her own blue eyes and the pop of red on her lips adds depth to her pale complexion. Take note of her dark brows too which are always part of a rock girl's beauty look.

Todd Lynn

The Todd Lynn look was arguably our favourite - it's easy to do at home, looks fabulous and takes 2 minutes to do. All you need is a dark shadow quad and eye pencil to bring the look to like, ensuring you go right into the inner corners of the eye too. Oh and if you're taking the look to the next level, slick your hair down like the model above - a true rocker girl loves her hair to be messy!
