1. Prep The Eyes

Prep the eye area with a gentle cream like Clinique’s All About Eyes, [a target="_blank" href="http://www.clinique.co.uk/product/1683/4769/Skin-Care/Eye-Lip-Care/All-About-Eyes/index.tmpl?77tadunit=e96f9bf6&77tadvert=42274981500&77tkeyword=clinique%20all%20about%20eye&77tentrytype=s&77tentry=TakeAwayTrio_20032014_Product&cm_mmc=google-_-search-_-brand-_-clinique%20all%20about%20eye&gclid=CPPK-uGLv70CFQ7MtAodhF0A0g">£25[/a]. It’s essential to have a smooth, luminous surface to really make the angular look pop. This eye cream will zap any unwanted puffiness and dark circles along the way, too.

2. Apply Taupe Eyeshadow to the lid

Gently dust a taupe eye shadow over your entire lids. We love MAC Eye shadow in Brule, [a target="_blank" href="http://www.maccosmetics.co.uk/product/shaded/154/363/Products/Eyes/Shadow/Eye-Shadow/index.tmpl">£12.50[/a].  Then take your make-up brush and create a half-moon shape from the top of your eye-lid to the inner corner of your eye.

3. Line the top and bottom lash lines

Next, carefully line your top and bottom lids with a thin liquid liner. Try Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner,[a target="_blank" href="http://www.stilacosmetics.com/product/stay-all-day-waterproof-liquid-eye-liner.do?sortby=ourPicks"> £13[/a]- the ultra-precise formula comes in a wide range of colours.

4. Define

Accentuate the outer corners of your upper lids with a sharp, short point sloping slightly upwards towards your temples and then do the same for the inner corners of your eye, but make this a slightly more dramatic point that slopes slightly downwards, towards your nose. Go back over the lines and really define the lower lash line. A softer gel pencil like Avon’s SuperShock Gel Eyeliner Pencil, [a target="_blank" href="http://avonshop.co.uk/product/make-up/eyes/eyeliner/avon-supershock-gel-eyeliner-pencil.html">£6[/a] is great for this.

5. Apply mascara

Apply mascara to both the top and lower lashes.

The reverse cat eye has been on our beauty radar ever since we spied it on the AW14 catwalks. Models at Thakoon and Nicholas K were seen sporting this modern, edgy twist on the classic cat eye- a heavier, lower-lash swoop that was topped off with pared-back, milky skin and neutral lips. Defined by a rounded-down shape and meant to highlight the inner corner of the eye, we’re totally loving this minimalistic, geometric look. So, when we spied Emma Stone rocking the look yesterday we were totally smitten- and love how Emma has made this catwalk trend totally wearable. This is some serious spring beauty inspiration.

Feel a little daunted by the idea of wearing your eyeliner upside down? Fear not. This look is actually surprisingly versatile and can be adapted to both day and evening make-up. Take, for example, Emma’s pretty daytime version. By keeping her line thin and clean and in a pale brown shade, the result is a super-fresh look that will work with blue and brown eyes alike. However, if you want to up the ante for the evening, take inspiration from the models at Nicholas K where a heavy black line on the lower lids as well as plenty of false lashes on the lower lash lines caused quite the beauty stir. Combined with a nude lip, this is a super-modern take on grungy punk beauty. The choice is yours! Take inspiration from Keira Knightley in the latest Chanel campaign, too- this is another gorgeous evening reverse cat-eye look.
