VIDEO: Charlotte Tilbury Gives Millie Mackintosh A Bardot Beauty Look

24 January 2014 by

Earlier this week we caught up with backstage beauty queen Charlotte Tilbury to talk lashes, berry lips and top skincare tips for the new spring/summer season. Us Grazia ladies have long been obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury- known not only for her glamour but also for her incredible mane of flame-coloured hair and that ubiquitous feline flick. What’s more, Charlotte recently teamed up with MIC babe Millie Mackintosh to create a rather awesome video tutorial showing you exactly how to pull off the Bardot-chic, super-sexy 60s siren make-up look. Millie herself said, “I love Brigitte Bardot and have even been wearing a fringe since October- her 60s style and long flowing mane are a real thing for me.” So who better than make-up maestro Charlotte Tilbury to transform our Mille into a 60s beauty? Think wide-eyed prettiness, black-lashes and perfectly contoured skin. Watch and learn ladies, watch and learn…

Charlotte Tilbury’s Top 10 Tips For Spring Summer 2014 Beauty

1. The Ultimate Berry Lip

“This can be achieved using only liner and gloss- super simple! Stencil on your pout using a soft lip liner like my Lip Cheat in Savage Rose, £16- you can exaggerate the lip shape & it also acts a guide when you fill in with your desired lipstick colour. Then amp it up with a high-vinyl shine like Tom Ford Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Wet Violet, £32.”

2. Work Your Lashes

“The look this season is all about giant yet natural-looking lashes. Start with a truly excellent mascara like my glorious Full Fat Lashes, £22 or Lancome’s Hypnose, £22 and a flourish of lash inserts at the outer corner of the eye to elongate and extend its natural almond shape. This will give you a flirty, feminine Bardot kick all season long.”

3. Learn To Contour

“A bit of light and warmth to the face is essential at this time of year. Use a natural shade of bronzer to cut in envy-inducing cheekbones. Dust it over the temples where the sun naturally hits the face and a little on the tip of the nose and down either side of it – if you want it to appear slimmer and thinner.”

4. Wear Pink

“Powder-posy pink was all over the catwalks this season. Whether it’s worn as a statement lip or a dewy flush on the cheek, it works on most women. Best paired with a fabulous cashmere coat or for the more rebellious fashionista… some brushed suede nude-pink Celine boots!”

5. Shake Up Your Smoky Eye This Season

“This look is homage to the smouldering Mediterranean Goddesses of the past and today – think Penelope Cruz, Sofia Loren and Monica Belluci. Use my Dolce Vita Palette, £38.50 to create copper-metal magic on the eye. It is best worn with my Nude Kate lip, too. Anything to transport us from dreary January towards the Ibiza summer sun!”

6. Groomed Brows

“Make sure you thread your brows (I like Blink for this), brush them up and groom into place using my Brow Lift, £22.50. It has a mini highlighter, which keeps your arch looking lifted and eyes looking bright.”

7. Look After Your Skin

“Over the course of a typical British spring, the weather goes from rain to bluster in the blink of an eye – and your skin suffers because of it. Proper cleansing with a massaging Clarisonic and my Multi-Miracle Glow Cleanser, £45 alongside vigilant moisturizing with my Magic Cream, £70 at night will ensure you don’t get a parched, drained complexion.”

8. ‘No Makeup’ Makeup

“Got a day off? Wonderglow, £38.50 will be your new best friend! It’s really important to let your skin breathe for one day a week and this is great for a dewy glow.”

9. Hydrate

“Your skin will not thank you if you don’t hydrate continually & feed it from the inside out. Green Juices are good for full nutrient support.”

10. Coloured Eyeliners

“A pop of colour in the inner corner of the eyes can enliven and brighten the eye. I am a fan of minks and beiges but never white.”
