Tucked away in the heart of St Ives with the picturesque harbour just a stone’s throw away, it's hard to imagine a more idyllic setting for a beachside retreat than this.
Bluemoon, a converted fisherman cottage, is beautifully kitted out with seaside-bright white walls, wood flooring and ceilings painted a soothing duck-egg blue. The rooms are filled with rustic charm, from bunches of coastal rope to mirrors surrounded by driftwood that make the cosy space feel bigger.
A ginormous monochrome print of Brigitte Bardot hangs in the open plan living room, adding a dose of bohemian cool, while upstairs (yep, there are two floors), the over-sized bed is swathed in crisp white linen. There’s even a spacious, if slightly random, 'dressing room' complete with a stylish stainless steel desk. It all feels wonderfully fresh, not least because it was only finished in December.
The beachiness is tempered by ultra-modern amenities including two flat screen TVs as well as a dishwasher and oven in the kitchen area. And don’t fret about not being able to Instagram every exquisite nook and cranny – the cottage comes complete with wifi. Oh, and you get a parking space too!
It might be lacking a sea view, but the cottage is a matter of footsteps from the prettiest beach in town, Porthmeor. Think pale sands, turquoise water and some of the best surf around. What’s more, as a haven for artists, there’s plenty of arty treasures to be found in the boutique galleries, as well as at Tate St Ives, one of four branches of the Tate Gallery.
Take a walk through the winding streets that lead down to the harbour and you’ll find cosy bars and restaurants serving the freshest of fish. Throw in one of the warmest climates in the UK and this is the ultimate picture postcard scene.
The petite space means this is ideal for a couple on a romantic getaway and perfect for some beachside chill time. Blue Moon starts from £85 per night based on 2 people sharing the one bed cottage. Visit www.beachspoke.com or call 0208 740 3097 for more details.
