Where DOES Rihanna Find Inspiration For All Her Hairstyles? We Look Back At Her Top 5 Hair Moments

19 November 2013 by

Just when we go and get used to seeing Rihanna with a certain hairstyle, the style chameleon only goes and mixes up her look! Although us beauty ladies reckon we’re pretty on top of all the celeb hair change-ups, we struggle big time to keep up with starlet Rihanna and her impressive repertoire of ever-changing do’s. If, like us, you only ever have the courage to mix up your mane twice a year at tops then you’ll wonder where on earth Rihanna finds all her hair inspiration. Fear not, fellow Graziettes, as we’ve pulled together some of RiRi’s hottest styles and explained her inspo behind each salon visit. Enjoy!

Rihanna’s latest do, unveiled yesterday, was this rather awesome choppy, dark bob which, we think, is very reminiscent of what came down the Marc Jacobs SS14 catwalks. Although Riri’s version is a little smoother, longer and noticeably darker than the jagged blonde wigs backstage at Marc Jacobs, there’s no denying the 70s vibes. Although this also reminds us of a bowl-cut, we think RiRi looks pretty damn awesome, and we love the darker hue, too.

Ah, bless you Rihanna- you really are a girl after our own hearts. When the songstress posted an old snap of her mum on Instagram back in July this year, it was clear she was the inspiration behind the starlet’s shorter and naturally curly, July 2013 style. We love it when the Bajan superstar embraces her natural texture and reckon this is a super-cute look for balmy summer days.

What do you think of @badgalriri's 80s inspired mullet? (Jason Lloyd-Evans)

Riri made like Marc Jacobs yet again back in September when she unveiled a rocking 80s mullet. Uncannily similar to the styles spied at the Marc Jacobs AW13 shows, Rihanna proved that the mullet was back, big time. Tempted to go for the chop? You should be- this style is actually really low-maintenance and will make a statement with your LBD this festive season.

There’s no denying that 2013 has officially been the year of the two-toned hair. Whether yours was Ombré, dip-dye, ecaille, or the controversial ‘splashlight’, we give our full beauty marks to Rihanna for embracing a winning two-tone look back in August this year. The perfect style for the more lazy lady, this look actually works with your growing-out roots for a stellar finish. What’s more, an edgy two-tone look was all over the manes of the models at Alexander Wang’s AW13 shows, so we cannot help but wonder if this was where RiRi got her inspiration from?

Was Rihanna (@badgalriri) inspired by Nicole Richie's grey tresses? (Getty Images)

Remember earlier this year when a whole host of celebs went, ahem, grey? Yes, it was a little odd, but actually kind of cool, we think. Our RiRi was straight onto this trend, too, and was posting pics of her newly-dyed grey tresses all over Instagram in a matter of seconds, saying “ New color ice grey ish, call it #Brrr.” A controversial style indeed, but was also rocked by the likes of Nicole Richie and Kelly Osbourne.
