Trend Tuesday: Bye Bye Buns, Hello The Top 10 Hair Knots

02 April 2013 by

We've waved goodbye to the traditional ballerina bun.  Instead, this season's must have hair style is in fact, the knot.  Not only was it seen all over the catwalk for Spring/Summer but it's been making an appearance on the red carpet too.

Unlike the bun, the knot comes in a variety of shapes and forms to suit every occasion, wardrobe and face shape.  At Chanel, the loose, dishevelled knots were accessorised of course with a clasic, signature but oversized Chanel pearl.  Taking the casual knot and making it a chic affair.

"The beauty of this season's knot is in the surprise of the detail.  From the front, the style looks simple and predictable, yet from behind, the sculpted or detailed is a refreshing change from the ponytail or bun" hairstylist Adam Reed told us.

Trend Tuesday: The Top 10 Hair Knots

In this week's Grazia: knots are the new buns

A classic example of this is the Sumo inspired knot that we saw at the Gucci S/S 13 show which was a much more directional style.  The hair was super vinyl in texture and appearance and pulled back into a sculpted Sumo-like knot, matching the glamourous evening wear of the collection perfectly.

On the red carpet, Sienna Miller, Jessica Alba and Bella Thorne have all demonstrated how to work the knot for a star-studded event effortlessly.  Take a look at the gallery above to see the top 10 knots of the season and see if you can be inspired to ditch your usual go-to bun in favour of what looks set to be this season hottest hair style. Go on, get knotted!
