UPDATE: Well it looks like someone has been reading their Grazia Daily. Today the Duchess of Cambridge has answered our prayers by treating us to a brand new hair-do after we pleaded with her to mix it up yesterday. Okay, so she's probably just pulled it back for her meeting with the Australian helicopter crew (don't want that glossy hair getting caught in the propellers), but it's certainly not a look we've seen before. And for that we're delighted.

Kate pulled her locks to the side as she stepped out in her ladylike wrap dress by Diane Von Furstenberg during her Australian tour today and we must say, it adds an extra laidback youthfullness to her look, no? More mixing it up please, Middy.

Kate Middleton’s hair is a hot topic here at Grazia HQ. Whilst half of us are in the midst of a full love affair with Kate’s forever-glossy, bouncy tresses, there are a few of us who reckon the Duchess could do with a serious style overhaul. And, FYI, the latter camp hangs out on Grazia’s beauty desk- don’t get us wrong; we understand that it’s tricky being a) a princess, b) a mum and c) out on tour in a hot climate, but Kate really could be doing so much more with her hair. Over the past few weeks on the Royal Tour, us beauty ladies can’t help but feel a little disappointed with K-Mid’s recent styles. A snore-inducing repertoire of half-up, half-down styles and predictable, bouncy blow-dries, read on to discover the 5 looks we think Kate should be embracing on tour...

1. Clip it back

With temperatures in Oz already in the mid-20’s, we can only imagine that Kate’s heavy head of hair isn’t doing anything to keep the Duchess cool, calm and collected. We reckon Kate should take inspiration from Rouland Mouret’s SS14 show, where models had their hair gently swept back and clipped at the side. Too cute? We think so.

2. The Princess Lob

(Jason Lloyd Evans)

There’s no denying that the lob is one of this season’s hottest styles. Not too short and not too long, the lob is the perfect length for spring. Plus, even the Duchess of Cornwall has been telling Kate she needs to go for the chop- and we think this could be K-Mid’s ultimate style.

3. The Updated Half-Up Style

(Jason Lloyd Evans)

Us beauty girls love the classic, groomed appeal of the half-up, half-down style although cannot help but feel Kate’s look has got a little stale. We totally love this side-swept version from the SS14 Band Of Outsiders show. We reckon this style would look amazing with Kate’s natural colour, too.

4. A George-proof style

If there was ever a reason for Kate to tie her hair back, this might just be it. Baby George is clearly a big a fan of his mum’s hair as we are, although this super-slick style seen at Margaret Howell’s SS14 show would save Kate (and George) a lot of hair-pulling.

5. Party Hair

Kate- it’s time to ditch the bouncy blow dries and opt for an on-trend up-do for your evening occasions. We love this Gatsby-inspired, low side bun seen backstage at Badgley Mischka SS14 and reckon Kate will, too.
