Another day, another cracking Cannes look for Nicole Kidman who attended the premiere of director Roman Polanski's new film 'Venus In Fur' last night wearing her locks in an elegant coiled plait. On Friday we reported how Nicole had channelled screen siren Grace Kelly with a pin-tuck bob at the premiere of ‘Nebraska’, but despite the fact that she's playing the late Princess of Monaco in a film biopic due for release in 2014, the Aussie actress opted for a less polished style this weekend. The fuss free coiffure is similar to the Boho up dos that we've seen on Kate Bosworth, Diane Kruger and Kristen Stewart, who are all fans of red carpet plaits.
Nicole's wispy hair and natural make up complemented the Chanel Resort 2014 collection gown that she showcased on the French Riviera. The silk tulle black-and-white dress was radiant against the star's ivory complexion and she gave it a Hollywood twist with a pair of red Christian Louboutin ‘Decollete 554′ pumps.
As our Beauty Editor revealed in 'The New Ways To Wear Plaits', the humble woven hairstyle has been enjoying a revival since Diane Kruger's fishtail plait sparked frenzy in Cannes back in 2009 and Alexander Wang swiftly hailed the return of the plait in his Spring/ Summer 2010 show. Plenty of stars haved followed suit over the last few years. Whether you're after milk maid braids or a party plait, twinning your tresses is the easy route to the 'undone' look, meaning you can ramp up your wardrobe efforts without looking like you've tried too hard.
