It’s been one busy week for Kate Middleton. From Manchester to London, K-Mid really has taken our bump-watch to a whole new level! Yesterday evening, however, on a trip to The Royal Portrait Gallery to visit her hubby’s portrait, our eyes were momentarily diverted from tummy to tresses as Kate took to the limelight with her super-summery, curled half-up, half-down ‘do. We’ve been swooning over the photos of the glowing Duchess all morning and are just itching to try it out ourselves…
We’ve never seen Kate’s hair look this good, ever, and we think it’s great to see the princess’ trademark tresses pulled back to frame her gorgeous face. It’s a youthful and fresh look that works really well for S/S- BBQ’s, bar, work, weddings- this ‘do guarantees a real royal flush. Think it looks complicated? Don’t fret, ladies, it’s totally achievable, and even though you might not have Richard Ward on standby to work his magic, just follow our simples steps to get the K-Mid curl cascade.
☆ Get Princess hair in 5 easy steps ☆
The look here is loose, relaxed waves as opposed to tight, structured curls, so bear that in mind whilst styling to look more Princess than Miss Piggy…
STEP ONE: Start by prepping hair with a volumising shampoo and conditioner, then work a volumising mousse (try Percy and Reed’s Abundantly Volumising Mousse, £12) through the ends of towel-dried hair.
STEP TWO: Dry hair till it’s 80% dry using a ceramic round barrel brush. Ready for the science-y bit? Ceramic brushes absorb and retain the heat from your hairdyer, not only making drying quicker but also helping to style hair at the same time! Try GHD's Ceramic Vented Radial Brush Size 3, £17.50.
STEP THREE: Once hair is dry, work a large barrel tong through sections of the hair, starting at the nape and working round the head, spraying each section with hairspray as you go.
STEP FOUR: Finger-scrape the front half of your hair back and start dividing each side into three sections. Twist each strand and pin back, then spray with more hairspray. When twisting the other side of your hair, bring the two together and tuck under, securing hair into a small knot. Secure with more pins if needed.
STEP FIVE: Kate’s hair has some serious shine and this makes her cascading curls look super lustrous. Arm yourself with Bumble and Bumble’s Shine On (and on) Finishing Spray, £21.50 to get the glow.
