Jessica Alba and Kim Kardashian go '40s for Couture

As predicted, the '40s waves are set to be the biggest hair trend this year thanks to the influx of films and catwalk inspiration harping back to the era when beauty was high maintenance.  Oh to have lived in a time when setting your hair was part of your daily routine like brushing your teeth!  Well, during this week's couture shows in Paris, we've seen the finger wave hit the catwalk at Iris van Herpen. We saw hair set in a modern finger wave but it didn't stop on the catwalk - oh no. In fact, stars on the front row have been channeling this season's must have style too.

Yep, it didn't take long for the trend to filter down onto the [couture] red carpet, with the FROWers looking retro perfect. And who can blame them? Kim Kardashian and Jessica Alba lead the way with their Hollywood bombshell style, transporting the '40s beauty we've been cooing over in Gangster Squad to the actual real world.

With celebrities opting for the retro waves and red lip combo, a la Emma Stone in the Gangster movie du jour, we're predicting this trend will continue through to next month's ready-to-wear fashion week. If you're looking for a way to ease into the trend, look no further for inspiration than Rita Ora who opted for a retro red lip when she attended the Chanel show on Tuesday morning. What a beauty! And if you want to replicate the '40s look at home, we've got a handy how-to right here.
