Jennifer Lawrence Gets A Pixie Cut! Star Unveils New 'Do On Hunger Games Promo Tour

08 November 2013 by

We have been wondering why JLaw chopped off all her hair - is it for a new role? Was she inspired by Beyonce's pob earlier in the year? Did she have a hair disaster a la Jennifer Aniston? Well in a Q&A with Yahoo’s Marissa Mayer Jennifer revealed: 'I cut it earlier and it grew to like here and then it grew to that awkward gross length and I just kept putting it in a bun and I thought ‘I don’t want to do this’ so I just cut it off,' adding, 'It couldn’t get any uglier, so.' We totally understand hair growing pains Jen, but we hardly think your hair was ugly. J-Law confirmed that Katniss won't be loosing her plait as she said: 'No, this isn’t how Katniss is going to look in next the movies, don’t worry. I’m wearing a wig.'

We thought that Jennifer Lawrence's Hunger Games promo tour would be oh so predictable. She would wear Dior and only Dior and add a bunch more GIFs to our archive. But on day one of her promotional tour she's done a real 'OH EM GEE.' Nope, she hasn't tripped up some stairs or done a tequila shot before a press conference. She's chopped off her hair.

It might seem a bit extreme to call a haircut serious breaking news, but Jennifer Lawrence with a pixie crop is a pretty big deal. There is the chance the choppy blonde 'do with a fringe swept to the right is a wig, but by the number of pictures she has posted on her Facebook page we're going to guess it's real.

An edgy crop can have a domino effect on a starlet's style. Anne Hathaway confirmed as much when she spoke exclusively to Grazia Daily about the influence the new 'do had had on her style: ‘I’m getting used to the cut now and I have completely fallen in love with collars,’ Anne told us. 'There isn’t a collared shirt that I don’t love right now and I like the last gentleman look more than ever, but I still like to go between mannish and super feminine styles’. So JLaw's red carpet style may just switch a gear.

This ultra short hairstyle has rocketed in popularity and revamped the styles of many an A-lister. "The crop, as far as I'm concerned, is the little black dress of the hairstyling world," celebrity hairstylist Andrew Barton says. "It can make any woman look fantastic." So far, we agree. See which other A-listers have worn the pixie cut in our gallery below...
