Alessandra Ambrosio in Malibu - July 2012
After some serious beach-babe status but panicking about sun, sand and sea-induced hair havoc? Yep, we’ve all been there, ladies! Art Team Director at Charles Worthington, Marc Trinder, is one of the salon’s busiest stylists and has to deal with plenty of stressed-out summer hairdos and definitely knows a thing or two about how to keep your locks in tip-top shape... Earlier last week, we caught up with the wonderful Marc for his expert tips for the best summer hair, ever!
Q: I love taking a dip in the pool whilst on holiday, but find it turns my platinum hair a nasty shade of yellow. Help!
A: As well as taking UV shampoos and conditioner and protection spray, take a small bottle of a neutralising toning shampoo such as Fudges Clean Blonde Violet Shampoo, £11.95 to neutralise any unwanted yellow tones. Keep your blonde looking as fresh as Claudia Schiffer's!

Q: Would you recommend using a special SPF for your hair?
A: Charles Worthington's Takeaway Sunshine Protector will give protection as well as hydration as it contains moringa seed oil.
Q: What’s the best way to banish the dreaded holiday frizz?
A: Layering a variety of products tailored to your hair needs will help protect your hair from the elements. I suggest mixing a little elixir oil with our Charles Worthington Long Lasting Straight Spray, £6.99 to reduce frizz and keep your hair straight for up to 3 days. Calling all curly-haired ladies- take note of Rihanna who gets this spot on!
Q: What are the rules about colouring hair before my holiday- how soon before I jet off should I hit the salon?
A: It’s complete personal preference if you want your colour fresh for your holiday, however holding back will keep your hair better condition and allow your colourist to correct any change in tone which might happen during your holiday. Take note of J-Lo who embraces her natural sunkissed hues. Gorgeous!

Q: Is it bad to shampoo and condition every day when on holiday?
A: Yes and no. It’s good to remove any chorine or salt from your hair, although over-washing can also dry your hair in the long-term. If you do want that clean feeling every day, using the right products to suit your hair will prevent damage!
Q: What’s your ultimate summer 2013 hair essential?
A: Charles Worthington Root Lift Back Comb Powder, as you can create volume and texture on any hair type with simply a few sprinkles. This really is an essential product in my kitbag any type of up-do! Take note of Kate Moss' stunning beach ponytail here- this is a great way to keep hair off the face and look super-stylish, too.
