When team Grazia beauty caught sight of Kate Middleton last night at the SportsAid 2013 event, we were seriously wowed by her impressive head of uber-glossy, chocolatey waves. We haven’t seen Kate’s hair looking this good for a while! Although we also give our full marks to her knee-length lace Temperley dress, it’s K-Mid’s tresses which have got us beauty ladies in a right tizz. Only earlier this month was Kate spied with a less-than-perfect hairstyle complete with grey roots and a serious lack of shine. Although we had a slight moment of panic that our number-one hair inspiration was failing us, we’re over the moon to see Kate looking beyond gorgeous and every inch the festive beauty.

Kate’s new darker colour is so much more modern than the lighter caramel tones she was sporting earlier this month, and we think this chocolate hue makes her skin look fresh and healthy, even if she has been up all night with baby George. In fact, K-Mid is bang on-trend with this new style as the glossy, healthy look is back big time. Put away those straighteners girls, and get glossing! If, like us, your locks are feeling a little lacklustre, then start using a seriously moisturising, glossing shampoo and conditioner for super-healthy strands come Christmas Day. Us beauty ladies are big fans of Frederic Fekkai’s Advanced Brilliant Glossing Shampoo, £20, but if the pennies are short then try Charles Worthington’s Shine Booster Shampoo, £5.99 for equally impressive results.

What’s more, we managed to catch up with hair colourist supreme Jo Hansford who revealed the secret to Kate’s new look. Jo told us, “It looks as though Kate has had a mahogany vegetable colour treatment. These are semi-permanent colours that enhance and deepen your colour and leave you with very glossy, shiny hair perfect before a red carpet event. As Kate already had lighter tones from a previous colour treatment, the vegetable colour has picked up these variations and her colour now has the effect of our latest technique, the Jo Hansford Ecaille Colour.  Her hair looks healthy and this richer tone is perfect for her skin tone, she looks positively glowing!”

Francesco Sinibaldi
Nona Barker (Fri Feb 14 18:20:43 GMT 2014): Going to check on the contents of Worthington's shine booster. My urologist informed me recently that darker hair colorings are directly related to bladder cancer. My urologist MD hails from the UK and was quite serious. Bummer, since I love Kate's color, but maybe there's a body-friendly color that can be substituted for anything dangerous. The results of cancer research prove that the darker dyes are connected to bladder cancer. This is a good concern for all of us who love darker glossy hair to bring up with our hair colorists.
