If you haven’t yet watched an episode of Game of Thrones, it’s safe to say you’re seriously missing out. The hit HBO show is now a veritable cultural phenomenon- only last week did Netmums report that more new born babies are now being given names from the middle ages, and it’s all thanks to some real GOT hysteria. What’s more, it also turns out that the TV series is also having a huge impact on beauty trends, according to online retailer Amazon. Who'd have thought?

Since the show aired on Sky Atlantic on 7 April 2014, Amazon have noticed that sales of platinum hair dye have risen by a whopping 533% week on week as women are desperate to emulate Daenerys, the blonde beauty Mother of Dragons and her signature platinum plait. Plus, eyebrow grooming kits are also up 27% week on week as women seek to imitate Daenerys’ thick, bold brows. Eat your heart out, Cara!

But it’s not just the blonde Khaleesi’s that are inspiring women in the UK as sales of auburn hair dye are also up 50% week on week too, inspired by brunette beauties Westeros, Sansa Stark and Melisandre. Oh, and ever swooned over Cersei Lannister’s impressive cheekbones? You’re not alone- sales of contouring brushes are also up 200% week on week.

"As the popularity of Game of Thrones continues, it's not just the books and DVDs that are performing well. It appears that fans are taking their love of the show to a new level by adopting the hair and make-up looks of their favourite characters," said Xavier Garambois, Vice President of EU Retail at Amazon. "As surprising as it may seem, this show is ahead of the field when it comes to influencing the beauty trends of 2014."
