BRIT Awards 2013: The Best Beauty Looks From Taylor Swift To Jessie J And Rita Ora

21 February 2013 by

While the Oscars bring glossy beauties and ladylike up-dos, you can guarantee a dollop of beauty fun when it comes to the BRIT Awards. So how happy were we to see the great and the good of the music world out in force last night (see the best dresses here). However, much like the Grammys before them, the attendees were far more subdued than in previous years. There was no towering bouffant from Lana Del Rey who instead sported a modest plait, Caroline Flack ditched the dip-dye for a sultry chocolate hue and even Jessie J opted against a neon-bright lip. Whatever is happening to the world?

The leader of the pack was the polished princess of pop, Taylor Swift, who looked as sleek as ever with her almighty 'bangs' and long tresses straight and flowing. Instead of the retro red lip she's been favouring, Swifty went sexy with smokey eyes and fluttering lashes. It was a look that worked wonderfully with her elegant Elie Saab gown that subtly flashed her pins. Gosh, Harry must be kicking himself.

We were also impressed to see Jessie J going a different beauty route. Gone was the fringed bob and multi-coloured extensions and in their place were poker straight tresses. And rather than lashings of rainbow-bright makeup, she kept her makeup minimal with little more than a slick of lipgloss. It was the perfect complement to her uber-sophisticated Versace gown which stole the spotlight thanks to that plunging neckline.

Three cheers for Rita Ora who brought a dash of colour to the proceedings with her bright red lip and Gwen Stefani-esque blonde quiff. Katherine Jenkins and Paloma Faith also went colourful in Barbie pink lipstick and rosy cheeks while Gemma Arterton teamed her Jonathan Saunders ensemble with a slick of red lippy. Oh, and let's not forget the Jourdan Dunn fresh off the London Fashion Week catwalks who looked nothing short of a golden goddess.
