Pretty In Punk At The Met Ball 2013: See The Best Beauty Looks On The Red Carpet

07 May 2013 by

By now, you've probably noticed that a little shindig called the Met Ball went down in New York last night. We've brought you all the wacktacular dresses but the swanky A-list types didn't stop at the fashion - oh no. They topped off their punk-inspired ensembles with edgy beauty looks too, from edgy hair-dos to a LOT of ear cuffs.

Hats go off to Nicole Richie who went the whole punk hog by sporting shocking white hair with a vampy lip and bold brows. Meanwhile, Anne Hathaway and Cameron Diaz hit the bleach bottle for the occasion and showcased slick, bright blonde styles. Also in the dark lip corner, we have (deep breath) Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Miranda Kerr, Kim Kardashian and Rooney Mara who found a simple way to punk-up their beauty look.

Bouffant-tastic quiffs were also a hot trend on the Met's red carpet with Katie Holmes and Jennifer Lopez going for towering 'dos. As for Diane Kruger and Taylor Swift, they tipped their toes in the punk look by adding pink streaks to their pretty blonde locks. And let's not forget Madonna who took us back to her goth-ier days by donning a sharp black wig to match her, err, fishnet body stocking.

Miley Cyrus worked the edginess with a plomp thanks to her spiky crop and we're mighty impressed with Ginnifer Goodwin's effort [above]. Tres Pam Hogg, no? Indeed, the punky theme was the perfect excuse for those typically safe stars to get experimental with their eye makeup - we're talking to you, Allison Williams who got getting seriously smokey and Kristen Stewart who went the red eye route. As for Elle Fanning, she splashed on a variety of rainbow brights.

Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow looked as sweet as punch with a perky blonde ponytail to match her pink Valentino gown and Michelle Williams did little more than tousle up her pixie crop with a metallic headband. Then there's Emma Watson and Marion Cotillard who looked like butter-wouldn't-melt thanks to their barely-there makeup. More effort next time, ladies!

But what's your verdict on the punk princesses? Take a look through the gallery above to see the best of the beauty looks and catch up on the best dresses here.
