Once upon a time every fashionista in the land was chopping off their locks faster than you can say Alexa Chung, but 2012 has definitely been a year of growth. While Grazia's Beauty Team has long advocated Rapunzel hair it seems like the rest of us have finally caught up. A clear indication of this development comes from the fact that back in 2007 closely cropped Agyness Deyn won Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards while this year that prize went to long haired lovely Cara Delevigne.
Cara also came out on top in our round up of the best blonde hairstyles of 2012, but the girl can’t win everything! In the long hairstyles category she had stiff competition from the brunettes, including Lana Del Rey and her retro waves and Kristen Stewart whose side swept red carpet ‘do gives her look some much needed polish - lending to the theory that you can afford to be a bit scruffier when you have Princess hair.
The Victoria’s Secret girls always give good hair-spiration, including Brit bombshell Rosie Huntinton-Whiteley. The model-turned-actress’ Hollywood curls almost put her on a par with Gossip Girl Blake Lively who works a fishtail plait to enviable effect. And if we’re talking glossy locks it would be rude not to mention Kate Middleton and her chocolaty brown mane. The recent addition of a Farrah Fawcett-esque fringe caused quite a stir at Grazia HQ.
So take a look through our long hair hall of fame above to see which magical manes rank against the likes of Cara and Kate - and do let us know who gets YOUR vote...
