Last night in New York, Lady Gaga put on a spectacular event for the launch of her new fragrance FAME Eau de Parfum, for her little monsters at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. From the wording on the launch invite, to the huge rumour mill in the build to the fragrance launch, the expectation of the event was always going to be a weird and wonderful affair with plenty to gawp at and talk about of course.
The black tie masquerade-themed launch party had a strict and kooky dress code of course, asking guests to wear a "Head Accessory Required for Ladies: Mask, Hat, Tiara, Crown or Lobster, optional for men." so as you can imagine, as we slept last night, Instagram went into overdrive as Gaga guests uploaded pictures of themselves wearing their party headwear. From Alxender Wang to Marc Jacobs and Charlotte Ronson, Lady Gaga pulled in some of the biggest names in the fashion world to help her celebrate the launch of her first scent, which also happens to be the first ever balck eau de parfum.
During the launch, an over-sized, giant bottle of the new FAME fragrance had been reconstructed, and on its reveal, Lady Gaga lay inside the genetically modified version of the FAME bottle as part of her performance art pierce that she called ‘Sleeping with Gaga’. Of course she stayed inside the bottle for just 15 minutes of FAME to then re-enter to be tattooed by tattooist legend Mark Mahoney, on the back of the neck whilst her guests watched.
