In this week’s issue we investigate the brand new breed of scents hotly tipped by industry insiders to become the ‘classic’ fragrances of the future.  Discover exactly what it takes for a new scent to turn to a classic, the new classic notes to look out for and just why you should be investing in boutique fragrance brands.  In celebration of the sweet-smelling issue, we beauty department gals have pulled together some of our favorite classic scents.

Beauty Editor Lauren Murdoch Smith: I love the rose-based Stella McCartney Eau de Toilette, [a target="_blank" href="http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Stella+McCartney+Stella+Eau+De+Parfum/SM_STELLA,default,pd.html">£38[/a] when I smell it on other people, I love the way that it smells on me and I love the way it smells slightly different on everyone - A great everyday scent!

Beauty Writer Rose Beer: Armani Prive Figuer Eden, [a target="_blank" href="http://www.selfridges.com/en/Beauty/Brand-rooms/Designer/GIORGIO-ARMANI/Fragrance/Prive-Figuier-Eden-eau-de-toilette-100ml_317-77011643-L3299500/">£82[/a] – I wear this scent when I want to feel grown up and sophisticated.   It manages to be simultaneously fresh, fabulous and bold without being overpowering.

Beauty Coordinator Angelica Hermon: I can’t get enough of Bobbi Brown Beach, [a target="_blank" href="http://www.bobbibrown.co.uk/products/2294/Gifts/Fragrance/Beach/index.tmpl">£38[/a] - it never ceases to be completely irresistible to me. A heady blend of sand, jasmine and sea water it smells of sunshine and holidays.

Beauty Director Liz Hambleton: The new Chanel N.19 Eau de Parfum, [a target="_blank" href="http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_123150902599_-1?breadcrumb=Home%7EBeauty">£86[/a] has become a true classic for me.  It’s powdery iris note adds freshness, bringing it to life and when I wear it I feel pretty and powerful all at once.  It's also the only one of my scents universally loved by my friends and my boyfriend.

Beauty Intern Hannah Poet:  The soft, super-light Estée Lauder Sensuous Nude, [a target="_blank" href="http://www.esteelauder.co.uk/product/612/3566/Product-Catalog/Fragrance/For-Women/Sensuous/SENSUOUS/Eau-de-Parfum-Spray/index.tmpl">£36[/a] smells like clean, fresh skin – a scent which will always be timeless.
