Trend Tuesday: Shake-Up Your Make-Up With A Transformer!

In this week’s sparkling new issue of Grazia, we beauty girls report on the new season make-up shake-up which is taking place right about now. Put simply this bunch of beauty must-haves mean that you can stop obsessing over must-have hues and on-trend styles (actually feel free to carry on), but right now it’s as much about updating your make-up bag with a brave new breed of techy treats as it is looking new season ready.

There are three exciting new micro movements that make up the grand whole and you’ll have to check out the mag to get the lowdown on all of them, but this afternoon we’re testing out the new breed of ‘transformer’ products.  This trend can be attributed to the rise of beauty video blogs or ‘vlogs’ produced by the world’s best makeup artists.  Not only have these vids been proven to give their viewers the confidence to play their own makeup artist, they also revealed the art of make-up artist mixology, whereby ‘transformer’ products are used to adapt or alter the finish or shade of makeup.

Luckily for us makeup mavens there’s been a speedy response from the beauty brands who have rushed to produce high-tech easy-to-use products that will offer us a whole new personalised colour closet. “It’s not just about blending your own colours too.  “Mixing highlighters and bronzers into your foundation can illuminate skin, lighten its tone, add a glossy finish or mattify skin,” explains international makeup artist Wendy Rowe.

This afternoon we’re giving them a go…

“Today I added a slick of Estee Lauder’s amazing new Pure Colour Vivid Shine Lipstick in Gunmetal Luminizer, £19.50 to add density and colour depth to a hot red lipstick.  It’s a really good way of updating a beauty look for evening time,” says Beauty Writer Rose Beer

Sub Editor Stella Dwyer has been transforming her foundation.  “I’ve just come back from holiday and my foundation is way too pale at the moment so I have added a drop of the amazing Sensai Bronzing Gel in Amber Bronze, £30 to make it two shades darker."

“I’m really tired at the moment,” adds Beauty Intern Harriet Charnock Bates “so I have mixed some of La Prairie’s Cellular Treatment Liquid Soft Glow, £44 to my foundation to make me more fresh faced!”

Beauty Editor Lauren Murdoch Smith can't stop raving about CK One Eyeshadow Base, £11: "Not only does this product create the perfect canvas for your shadow, it also gaurantees oodles of staying power and improves colour intensity too."
