Learn How Cleanse The Pro Way with ‘A’ List Facialist Fiona Brackenbury

08 August 2012 by

We’d probably guess that there are a fair few among you lovely lot who think that cleansing involves rubbing something soapy across you face, before splashing it off with water.  We might even hazard a guess that there are some of you who have stumbled home after a few many apple martinis and accidently-on-purpose forgotten to take all that makeup off at all.  Either way, it’s time to switch up that skin cleansing and do away with bad ways

Luckily we have just the person to fill you in on a few cleansing home truths in the form of Fiona Brackenbury, Decleor’s much-acclaimed Head of Training and Education and facialist extraordinaire. Get a load of her fantastic need-to-know sound bites below:

On remembering: "Try and think of cleansing as the first thing you do in the morning and the last thing that you do at night. It should be a luxury treat and indulgent ritual. Make sure you tie your hair back so you can take your cleanser down onto your neck too and give it a good massage."

On application: "Apply your cleanser to dry hands before warming it between your fingertips and placing your fingers facing upwards on either side of your nose.  Next use upwards and outwards circular movements and move out until you reach the hair line - there are lots of lymph node here and massaging this area will help drain them so you’ll look more sculpted."

On timing: "Try to massage your face for about two minutes when cleansing – the same time as it takes to brush your teeth! Then rinse."

On toning: "Afterwards dampen some cotton wool (dry cotton wool will scratch and scrape your face and it takes 8 hours to repair the damage!), and apply some toner to it before sweeping it over your face.  Use a dry tissue to take of any excess and add your skincare as per normal."

On Results: "If you do this every day for a week you WILL notice a considerable difference!"
