It's Eylure's 65th Anniversary! Here Are Their Eight Essential False Lash Styles
GALLERY >> The Lashes You Need In Your Life
Can you believe that false eyelash brand Eylure is turning 65 this year? Who'd have guessed the go-to brand of the TOWIE cast and Katy Perry is actually reaaaaaally old?
The brand was started in the 1940s by costume designers David and Eric Aylott. Back then they were making wigs, beards and moustaches as well as HUGE lashes, but it was the falsies that really took off. They created an instant eye widening effect on film and so were mega popular in glamorous Hollywood. They were worn by the likes of Marlene Dietrich, Joan Collins, Ingrid Berman and Sophia Loren on set. Elizabeth Taylor even wore them when she took on the role of Cleopatra.
The lashes didn't go on sale to the general public until 1948, but by the 1960's lashes had become a part of every woman's beauty routine as everyone tried to recreate Twiggy's doe-eyed look. Fast forward in time and we're more likely to use them to recreate the stage makeup of our fave popstars with Girls Aloud and Katy Perry designing lashes for the brand.
The brand are launching a collection of four special edition anniversary lashes to celebrate their birthday. Inspired by the pop culture of the 60's , the four styles are called 'London Calling', 'King's Road', 'The Chelsea Look' and 'Queen of Mod'.
Instead of looking to the future, we asked the lovely people at Eyelure to look back through their ranges and pick out the lash styles that every falsies lover needs in their life.
