Who says sport and glamour can't mix? With The Games 2012 right around the corner, the next few weeks are all about bronze, silver and gold. What better way to celebrate than with this dramatic gold facepaint, created by Mika Johnson from Illamasqua for Grazia Daily's Kate Lloyd.

Whether you're heading to the opening ceremony, watching it in Hyde Park or at a house party - it's a fun look that's two parts games' spirit, one part glam-rock cool. Click through our gallery to find out how to get it.

Step 1: Making the template

Mika folds a piece of card into quarters and cuts out a triangle from a folded corner as though he's making a paper snowflake.

Step 1: Making the template

When he unfolds the card, there's a star cut out of it!

Step 2: The cream layer

Mika holds the card against Kate's face so that two of the points follow her cheekbone into her hairline.

He then uses an eyeshadow brush to apply Illamasqua Liquid Metal In Electron (a gold, shimmery cream product) from the inside of the face outwards.

Step 3: Apply a powder product

Mika applies Pure Pigment in Ore over the cream product to set it, while still holding the template in place.

Step 4: Remove the template

Once you remove the template you should be left with a pretty star!

Step 5: Paint on little stars

Mika uses Liquid Metal in Electron on an angled eyeliner brush to paint smaller stars on the temple and forehead

The finished look!
