According to new research, women are spending hundreds of pounds on reinventing themselves after break-ups. There we were, thinking that ice cream, Heathers and a boozy night out with the girls were the best cures for a broken heart!

We apparently spend £500 on average to reinvent our image after breakups. Looking hot when you’re feeling down is a great mood changer, but is it worth that much? Men don’t think so. Whereas 43 per cent of women said that they reinvent themselves post break up, only 25 per cent of men admitted to it. Plus guys are only spending £150 per break up – that’s £350 less than us.

What’s all this cash going on? According to MyVoucherCodes.co.uk the majority of the women surveyed said that it was on new hair styles rather than a wardrobe or weight change. It’s not just us mere mortals who head to their hairdressers after our heart’s been broken, the celebs are at it too.

Ashlee Simpson chopped and bleached her long brown hair when she broke up with Pete Wentz, Lindsay Lohan went back to her natural red roots after Sam Ronson and Kim Kardashian and Olivia Wilde both got fringes put in post-break up.
