OH. EM. GEE. TULISA HAS GONE BLONDE! The singer and X Factor judge arrived at the courtroom this morning with a bleached head of hair. We knew Ms Contostavlos would be appearing in court to settle legal action against the ex-boyfriend who leaked her sex tape, but we couldn't have anticipated she'd opt for a whole new look. Besides, it was only last weekend that we were watching her perform with jet black hair at the Wireless Festival. But we've discovered that Tulisa sneakily headed to the hairdressers late last night for a total hair makeover before her appearance today. And not only did she go for a dramatic hair colour change, but she went to the effort of leaving the salon wearing a black wig so that no one would see her golden locks until today. Talk about a big reveal!
What's more, the songstress swapped her usual tough girl style (we're talking leather jackets, chunky gold bling and flesh-baring frocks) for a high-necked floral top teamed with a rose-coloured jacket, city-chic shorts and totes K-Middy nude heels. So what do you think of Tulisa's new look? With that blonde 'do and bronzed skin, we're rather reminded of a certain Lindsay Lohan. The likeness is uncanny, no?
Like Tulisa, LiLo also performed a courtroom makeover before our very eyes, going for noticeably more demure, I-am-innocent outfits. We’d never seen her look so glam – minus the handcuffs, of course. Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie did the very same. Perhaps they were inspired by the ultimate jailbird Roxie Hart who went all sweetness and light for her court appearance in the genius Chicago? Tulisa's golden hair certainly makes her look as though she's as good as gold...
We asked Jason Cocking, Director of Lisa Shepherd London, for his verdict on Tulisa's new look. 'It’s quite common that we get a woman come into the salon wanting her hair change to be part of a wider story – a job promotion, wedding day preparations, but more than often it’s all about ‘washing that man right out of your hair.’ I love Tulisa and for me this style was symbolic of that – a confident, bold and dramatic return to her roots. That said, the shade is too strong for her skin tone and looks undeniably fake,' he tells us. 'For me, the colour is too block to look natural – I would have kept her roots darker and then blended it out to blonde at the ends. Muted tones are what we’ll be seeing far more of this Spring / Summer, a more frosted, dusty golden tone would have worked better with her lovely honey coloured skin and dark brows.'
