Guess What? Kate Hudson Does Her Own Red Carpet Makeup!

27 June 2012 by

We’ve been 100% percent obsessed with Kate Hudson since circa 2003 when we watched How to Loose a Guy in 10 days at a friend’s Saturday night sleepover.  Who knows how many times that we have seen the film subsequently, and who quite frankly cares, because we still laugh just as much as Kate Hudsen proclaiming “It's our love fern! Oh, Bennie-boo-boo, boo-boo.”  Sorry, we digress…

What we mean to say, is that Kate Hudson just seems like she would be the kind of girl that we’d want hang out with.   And now we are convinced that this is the case as the actress recently told US mag People:

"I love putting makeup on friends... I do it all the time. If I'm bringing them to a premiere, or we're having a party, they'll all come over early and I'll do their makeup. I love it."

OMG! Surely Miss Hudson has got to be the only member of celebsville to put on her own face pre premiere - which, by the way, is no easy talk, because all those flashing bulbs are famously unforgiving and show up even the tiniest cosmetic errors.  Argh – isn’t she just so talented, so down to earth – so low key!

Of course, being so bold as to do one's own DIY red carpet make-up comes with its risks, but Hudson can laugh at her own mistakes.  Natch. At her first ever red carpet event aged 21 in 2001 for the Academy Awards everything didn’t go exactly to plan...

"Stella McCartney dressing me - well I felt like the hippest, coolest girl in the world. Up until the last minute Stella was working away, hand-sewing the hem. I woke up the next morning in my bed post-awards and without a little statuette on my bedside. I turned on the television to find out I was on every Worst Dressed list possible. So I called Stella and we just laughed our arses off and she said to me, 'Look babe, it was the hair wasn't it?'"

Kate – we salute you.
