When Kate Middleton arrived for a black tie dinner at Claridge's earlier this month, we were mightily impressed with the turn out. Pairing her Roland Mouret 'Lombarde' dress with glittery Jimmy Choo 'Vamp' heels and that enviable trademark blow-dry plus smokey grey eye combo, K-Middy looked not just chic but - dare we say it? - sexy too. So it'd be hardly surprising if the gorgeous Cheryl Cole has been taking beauty inspiration for our Duchess of Cambridge.
The songstress walked the red carpet for the 'Amour' film premiere during the Cannes Film Festival last night and we couldn't help but feel a sense of deja vu. With those white-capped sleeves (very demure of our Chezza), drop diamond earrings, tumbling brunette waves and blacker-than-black eyeliner, she can't help but wonder whether we have a new Kate Clone on our hands.
Chez's make-up artist tells Grazia that her brown eyes were lined with lashings of black liner and a dark smokey blend of L’Oreal Paris Color Infalliable Shadows in Endless Chocolate and Eternal Black while her tresses, were far more modern (and Middy) than normal in a “blow down” style from the voluminous, bell-shaped blowout that we are accustomed to seeing. With a cheeky red nail thrown in for good measure and that seriously sexy Stéphane Rouland Haute Couture gown, doesn’t Cheryl look like quite the doppelganger for our fave royal lady?
Of course, Kate Middleton’s tresses have garnered a whole host of admirers from Angelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway to Katie Holmes and Eva Longoria who have all played Catherine-clones with their glossy waves. But the copy-Kate club is by no means just a Tinsel Town phenomenon - oh no. Aaron Carlo, Art Director at Headmasters, told Grazia that more and more women are desperate to join the DoC's crew of glossy-haired ladies.
'There has been a huge increase in women coming into the salon requesting Kate Middleton’s signature look,' he tells us. 'For most women between 20 and 30 years old, this style seems to be top of their wish list. In particular, I get lots of requests for the iconic finish of her hair: clean, luxurious and characterised by beautiful shine and lustrous body. Clients frequently bring in pictures of the Duchess and Headmasters has seen a whopping 18% rise in blow-dry appointments since the Royal Wedding.'
So will you be joining the copy-Kate club?
