Chanel Resort, Rooney Mara, Lady Gaga: The Micro Fringe Trend Is The Hottest Hair Do

GALLERY>>

You beady-eyed beauties will have already spotted the ‘Small Fringe, Big Decision’ feature in [a href="/LatestIssue/archive/2012/05/15/in-this-issue--jennifer-aniston---justin-falling-apart--the-man-who-made-kate-mi.htm">this week’s issue of Grazia[/a] so it'll come as no surprise to hear that we're rather obsessed with the style.

Granted, it’s a tricky one to pull off but when it’s done right, it really works. We already knew the trend was on the rise after seeing micro fringes popping up all over the Autumn Winter 2012 catwalks from Versace to Nicole Farhi and now it's swept celebsville too. Everyone from Taylor Swift to Rooney Mara and even Queen of Kook, Lady Gaga, have been working the 'hair visor'. Then the short blunt fringe hit the Chanel Resort catwalk and the deal was sealed.

Originally more of an East London quirky trend, the micro fringe look is not your average everyday hair 'do, but with summer looming and a parade of fancy festivals on offer, this is a fuss-free beauty update. Just be sure to take a photo of exactly what you want when you pop to the hairdresser’s – you don't want to get this trend wrong and end up with nothing but brittle sprouts.

For some inspiration, check out our gallery of top micro fringe pin-ups...

Rooney Mara

Lovely Miss Mara rocks this trend to perfection. She's got the attitude and cool to go with it so if there's one photo you take to your hairdresser's, this should be it people!

Ginnifer Goodwin

As Eva Wiseman says, pretty dresses, perfect skin... think of Goodwin's fringe as her onw rebellion. It's Occupy Forehead.

Lady Gaga

Trust Lady G to take it one step further with her own take on the trend. The songstress really has gone as low as you can go (or rather high) by cutting her fringe super-short. Only someone as wacky as Gagaloo could pull off this look - it's certainly not for the faint hearted.

Chanel Cruise 2013

[a href="/beauty/archive/2012/05/15/chanel-debut-pastel-coloured-wigs-and-bold-makeup-looks-at-their-show-in-versail.htm">Chanel's show in Versailles[/a] was a micro fringe frenzy. Hair stylist Sam McKnight placed pastel coloured wigs onto the models which were then cut into blunt crops. As ever, the show went down swimmingly with fashion editors and celebs galore dying to get their hands on the wigs!

Versace Autumn WInter 2012

For Versace's Autumn WInter show we saw a parade of models working the micro fringe. This is a little more adventurous for Donatella and the girls looked suitably striking and modern. Precision and accuracy are essential to getting this one right.

Nicole Farhi Autumn Winter 2012

And over at Nicole Farhi, the models' hair was cut in a similar way with 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'-like cropped fringes to match the sharp tailoring of the clothes. This was arguably our favourite hair look of them all and only confirms our belief that this is the season's hottest hair trend yet. Will you be getting on board?
