UPDATE: Chanel have confirmed that Brad Pitt is indeed the face of the upcoming advertising campaign for Chanel No. 5. How genius! And here he is looking ridiculously hunky in a crisp white shirt - is this a clue of what's to come?

Brad Pitt Is The New Face of Chanel No. 5 Fragrance: CONFIRMED

The beauty rumour mill is in full swing this morning and we're excited. E! Online are reporting that the Hollywood hunk has been signed up as the first male face of the world’s most famous fragrance. According to reports, Brad is set to shoot the campaign right here in London this week *squeals* We, naturally, immediately contacted our Chanel friends who have said: 'We are not able to comment on this'. How intriguiiiing... Let's start crossing our fingers that there's fire behind this smoke!

Marilyn Monroe for Chanel No.5

Chanel No. 5 was the first perfume launched by the French fashion house back in 1920. It was traditionally a fragrance worn by women under two categories: 'respectable' and 'sexually provactive' and became utterly covetable when Marilyn Monroe stated that 'five drops of Chanel No.5' was all she wore to bed. Ooo la la.

Previous iconic film stars including Catherine Deneuve, Audrey Tatou and Nicole Kidman have been the face of the fragrance throughout the years. The two-minute ad campaign in 2004 featuring Ms Kidman (estimated at a whooping £18 million!) became one of the world’s most expensive ads - scroll down to relive the gorgeousness. So with rumours flying that Brad is receiving a seven-figure salary for the job, could this campaign be even pricier?

Another question: now that Brad is the first male EVER to face the fragrance that was initially being developed for women, might the brand launch the male equivalent for our menfolk? Either way, here's hoping this means a certain Angelina will be working a touch of Chanel of her Big Day...

Nicole Kidman

Audrey Tatou

Catherine Deneuve
