Yesterday, we were squealing with excitement after hearing Marc Jacobs is launching a makeup collection and this morning, we're squealing once again. Yep, the Beauty Team hot-footed it down to New Look first thing to catch up on the brand's beauty collaboration with Giles Deacon. Considering the fabulous looks conjured up in the backstage areas at the designer's London Fashion Week shows, we knew we were in for a treat.
For those of you who don’t know, Giles graduated from Central St Martins in 1992 before heading to work with Charles de Castelbajac in Paris. Next up, there were stints at Bottega Veneta and the Gucci Group, before the designer presented his very first collection in February 2004. With styling by super-stylist Katie Grand, music by Steve Mackey from Pulp (yes really), and models Eva Herzigova and Karen Elson strutting the catwalk, it was quite clear that Giles was here to stay. Several awards and many, many pages in the worlds’ best magazines later, Giles signed up to his consultancy role with New Look in 2007 launching GOLD BY GILES.
And then, last November the collaboration gave birth to a fabulous collection of nail varnishes, which flew off the shelves faster than you can say GOLD BY GILES, and also inspired today's positively delightfu, and impressively extensive makeup collection. Full to bursting with absolutely everything that a girl could need for her makeup bag, we fell head over heels for the sheer non-sticky pastel glosses, high shine varnishes in this season’s most desirable hues (look out for the amazing taupe championed by nail technician Zoe Pocock), amazing eyelash curlers and super-cute brushes too.
The Giles Gold for New Look Collection launches at the end of April and prices start at an amazing £1.99. Mega, right?
