Last night we slipped out of work half an hour early and headed round the corner to the amazing the Old Sorting Office event space on High Holborn. Last visited by us back in February for the a.m.a.z.i.n.g and rather spooky McQ show, this time British beauty giant The Body Shop were firmly in-situ, using the massive space to host an equally impressive but very different event.
The occasion in question? Not only the revealing of a whole host of brand new and exciting beauty innovations, a very impressive, and we suspect unrivalled, rostrum of community and environmental projects, but also the unveiling of the brands’ first ever ambassador in the form of supermodel Lily Cole. Wow!
“We were talking for a year and I can’t tell you how inspired I’ve been by the work that [The Body Shop has] done,” said Lily told us. “I think they’re such an aspirational business, and an aspirational model to other businesses, to show that you can have a really positive attitude to the people, planet and animals and that you can also be really successful.”
In her new role La Cole is set to head the brands’ sparkling new message “Beauty with heart,” designed to inspire its customers to look and feel good through helping others. "We know that our brand delivers more than beauty; our products truly contain heart as well," explained Sophie Gasperment, Executive Chairman of The Body Shop.
And Lily is undoubtedly a very good fit for the brand. Well known for her environmental campaigning, she helped to launch environmentally-friendly knitwear company The North Circular and has had involvement with the Environmental Justice Foundation too.
