Emma in November 2011
It was back in August 2010 when Emma Watson wowed the world with a brand new pixie crop. It subsequently clocked up hundreds of copy-cats and a zillion column inches. 'It's the most liberating thing ever,' the Harry Potter actress said at the time.
And didn't she time her chop well? 2010 just so happened to be the 50th anniversary of the adorable hair do. Of course, the Pixie made its breakthrough performance in the French cinema classic Breathless courtesy of actress Jean Seberg and since then, the chic crop has been a favourite for Hollywood A-listers, from the freckly-faced Mia Farrow to Agyness Deyn and Carey Mulligan.
In the two years that followed her dramatic new look, Emma has thrown off that Hermione Granger schoolgirl vibe, her hair has been crowned one of 2011’s most influential haircuts and she's posed up a storm for French beauty giant Lancôme. It's also, err, prompted some questions about her sexuality. 'I had journalists asking me if this meant I was coming out, if I was a lesbian now,' the actress told the Independent.
And this week, Emma's hair is the talk of the town once again. First, we spotted Ms Watson arriving at LAX sporting glossy shoulder-length locks in a chocolatey brown hue. Yep, that pixie is growing out! Then she was seen on the set of her new movie The Bling Ring with super-long tresses thanks to a set of very convincing hair extensions. What a transformation! And it makes a welcome change from that frizzy Hermione mane, no?
But what do you make of Em's new do? Are you missing the pixie too?
