Oh, how we love the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards. We've seen the gorgeous gowns so now it's time to turn our attention to the best beauty looks from last night's glitzy ceremony.
Do the Side Sweep
Forget the stiff, over-hair-sprayed up 'dos of yore. Tousled tresses with buckets of movement are far more chic and modern! Last night, we spotted plenty of casual side-swept 'dos - Berenice Marlohe, Christina Hendricks, Elizabeth McGovern, Fearne Cotton and Jessica Brown-Findlay were all among the ladies who embraced their fly aways, paired with a side parting.
Tilda’s Highland Flush
She may shun obvious beauty statements but we were delighted to hear that Tilda Swinton had enlisted the help of tanning guru Nichola Joss to give her a no tan glow for last night’s Bafta’s. The inspiration was Tildas Scottish roots and her pearly pale silk dress. Joss told Grazia that she wanted to keep Tilda ‘Ethereal’ so applied a light layer of St Tropez Naturals Radiance Self tan For Face, followed by St Tropez Rose Illuminator to add a soft flush. Not forgetting a last minute application of St Tropez body butter to keep her exposed arms looking camera ready. Should we expect to see more exciting make-up moves for Swinton at the Oscars?
Oh how we love a fringe. In fact, as we reported last week, bangs are currently having a massive moment with a whole host of A-listers including Rihanna, Jessica Biel, Zoey Deschanel and Taylor swift taking the chop. Last night we swooned over the flurry of fringe action on the red carpet. The delightful Claudia Winkleman went for full-on lengthy bangs that added lovely weight and volume to her hair, while Penelope Cruz chose a shiny, ever so slightly side-swept fringe which looked lovely with her red Armani dress. Christina Ricci’s super sharp fringe has got to be our fave however. Doesn’t it look quite incred with that divine red lip in Lancôme’s Rouge in Love Lipstick in Rouge Valentine?
Michelle Williams’ Couture Lip
Bonnie Wright, Christina Hendricks, Helena Bonhma Carter and Holliday Granger all put in sterling efforts with their hot lip looks, but Michelle Williams wins our award for best red lip of the night and how could we expect anything less from lady that played Marylin herself? Her dress may be strictly high street but her lip is thoroughly couture. Bold pillar box red lipstick, in a soft, unlined shape, could MW have taken a peek at yesterday’s Victoria Beckham show we wonder? Just like Mrs Beckham’s models, Williams teamed her lip with fresh, porcelain skin, groomed brows and minimal eye make-up.
