18 year old model Barbara Palvin was first spotted in her native Budapest, but resisted the flurry of catwalk callings until September 2010 when she was chosen to walk for the Prada Spring Summer 2011 show. Needless to say the rest is history; Barbara has subsequently walked for Chanel, Givenchy, Alexander Wang and Victoria’s Secret, as well as gracing the covers of French Elle, Russian Vogue, and Korean Harper’s Bazaar. Impressive right?
Now L’Oréal Paris has picked up on the model’s general fabulous-ness, snapping her up as their latest brand ambassador. The young model joins an impressive rostrum of very unique individuals including Gwen Stefani, Freida Pinto, Cheryl Cole and Diane Kruger each of whom bring a very different but special something to the brand.
Cyril Chapuy, global brand president of L’Oréal Paris, told WWD that he was struck by Palvin’s “strong character and self-assurance,” when he first met her on the side-lines of a Paris fashion show. “[Palvin] is a very promising supermodel with a fascinating personality, [a] fresh and elegant beauty with a great sense of humor and astonishing maturity,” said Chapuy. “I think she has this incredible potential to become a household name.”
Palvin is set to make her debut as the face of Rouge Caresse, a brand new L’Oréal Paris Lipstick set to launch in April, but will appear in print and TV ads from February. Speaking of her new role Barbara says, “I’m very proud! I know that this is a special moment in my life and also an exciting step forward for L’Oréal – because I am the youngest person to represent the brand. I hope that I will make them proud!”
