New Beauty Hero: Amber Heard Plays Mix and Match with her Make-Up

31 January 2012 by

We’re currently harbouring a massive girl crush on blonde bombshell Amber Heard, after her positively vast repertoire of show-stopping beauty looks over the past few weeks. Demonstrating exactly how not to get stuck in a beauty rut, La Heard seems to glide from downtime to red carpet time with major aplomb. In fact, the whole display is making us feel somewhat sheepish at our lack of daring (must. do. better).

While Amber’s beauty looks are admirably varied, taking a closer look at her regime, it’s clear that this is a lady who knows what suits her — and sticks to it.  Taking eight staple elements, the actress mixes and matches to produce a truly admirable and diverse display of, well, beautiful-ness!

The Retro Curls

A massive trend for Spring/Summer 2012 (we're talking Jean Paul Gaultier, Dior, Jason Wu and YSl, no less), it’s clear that Amber has been keeping a beady eye on the catwalks.  And she’s right to pick up on this one because her flawless alabaster skin, white blonde locks and pretty mouth lend themselves perfectly.

The Red Lip

Nothing makes an entrance quite like a hot lip and Amber has this one down to a T.  ‘This season it’s all about doing away with your liner,’ explains make-up pro Mel Arter, ‘Trace, and fill in your natural lip shape straight from the lipstick, it’s far more modern and youthful.'

California Blowout

What’s cuter than a California blowout?  With just enough curl and plenty of bounce, it’s guaranteed to add an instant injection of glamour to Amber's look.

 The Eyeliner Flick

Flicks are big news this season, spotted on the catwalks at Dolce and Gabanna, Jonathon Saunders, Kanye West and Marios Schwab among (many) others.  We swear by MAC’s Penultimate Eyeliner, £15, for its black-than-black pigment and ease of application.

Keep it Clean

We love Amber’s downtime hair.  Clean? Bouncy? Shiny? Tick. Tick. Tick.  The secret’s in the shampoo you know!

The Toffee Eye

Championed for its universally flattering nature, low maintenance upkeep and the fact that it goes with anything, we’ve got a major soft spot for this one and so does Miss Heard. “Not only are these shades 100% wearable, uber contemporary and super-sexy, they also embody this season’s love affair with the retro,” explains international makeup artist Wendy Rowe.

The Nude Lip

Fresh, youthful and oh-so pretty, just be sure to keep lips well-conditioned when going nude! We sweat by Laura Mercier Lip Treatment Kit, £26, which includes an exfoliator and lashings of Lanolips 101 Lip Ointment, £11, too.

Amber, we salute you!
