The Best Hair & Make-Up at The Screen Actors Guild Awards 2012

30 January 2012 by

Now that the awards season is officially upon us, we’re getting thoroughly used to our Monday morning red carpet beauty downloads, as we debate the weekend’s beauty successes and failures over marmite toast and giant mugs of tea. On our agenda this morning? The Screen Actors Guild Awards (or, rather unfortunately, SAGs) that took place on Sunday night. Here are our favourite looks of the night...

Plait Wraps

It’s time to revisit Little House on the Prairie. Not only was the book right up there with our fave childhood reads, but it also inspired a beauty obsession with the wrap-around plait. And it appears we aren’t the only ones. Dianna Agron went for a super-cute fishtail up 'do while Busy Phillips tucked a thin side-plait under her ear and Kaley Cuoco worked a full on Heidi-esque headband.  Are you persuaded to give it a go?

Bombshell Beauties

An awards ceremony just wouldn’t be the same without a good handful of smoking bombshells. Paz Vega, Sofia Vergara and Jessica Chastain were our favorite sexy sirens at the SAGs, choosing lashings of liner, full-on mascara, rosebud mouths and glossy locks. This formula makes for a beauty look look that's at once strong, sexy and beautiful.

Keep it Caramel

Warm, caramel tones are ever popular when it comes to the red carpet, due to their universally flattering nature and ability to stand up well to that wall of flashbulbs. Lea Michelle and Angelina Jolie both choose honey-hued lips and subtle smoky eyes, while Tilda Swinton picked tonal shades, which looked incredibly pretty on her porcelain skin.

Face Framers

Nothing finishes a make-up look like an awesome fringe (or 'bangs' as the Americans say) so we applaud the divine Rose Byrne for sporting such a voluminous bob with a full-on fringe. It worked a treat with that dazzling jumpsuit by Elie Saab, dontcha think? It was a welcome change in a sea of up 'dos and is without a dooubt the cream to the err, crop! Do you agree?
