Beauty Highlights at Couture: Chanel, Armani Prive and Givenchy

Another day brings another set of awesome beauty looks from the Couture shows. Take a look at our highlights from yesterday's catwalk extavaganza...

At Chanel guests we invited to board “Chanel Air,” a ginormous set that took 5 days to create and which was staged to look like a luxury private jet. Sigh.  The subsequent show was also notable for the fact that the entire collection was made up of 154 different shades of blue.

“Blue is a palette all in itself.  The colour of air, of the sky of the eyes of a little cat,” added Karl.  With this in mind it is perhaps unsurprising that the theme continued to the beauty look also.

Nails were painted a pale, pearlescent blue and we’re keeping everything crossed that it will be produced commercially before too long. Meanwhile, hair hero Sam McKnight conjured up punky asymmetrical and altogether awesome mohawks and elegant quiffs that were anchored with hair pieces and pompadours.  Pared with winged navy eyes and rosebud lips the finished article, we’re sure you agree was quite spectacular.

Over at Armani, Grazia fave Linda Cantello, stayed in keeping with the unusually classical beauty looks seen at the couture shows this week.  The aim was to produce young fresh skin that would act as a contrast to the ornate collection.  Consequently, matte skin and a delicate wash of pale green shadow, boosted with a slick of high-shine gloss was the order of the day. “Usually, with Armani, there’s always this shiny skin,’ she added backstage.  Hairstylist Franco Gobbi created low looped buns with plenty of flyaways that veiled the face.  Lovely right?

It was all dark romance at Givenchy with black lips adorned with bull rings through the nose and crystal collar-earrings. Amazing.
