While Kate Middleton’s eyeliner has caused serious discussion throughout the world, here in Grazia Team Beauty, we're far more intrigued by one other part of her beauty routine. Yep, you guessed it, we're continually cooing over those envy-inducing chestnut waves that are just so super shiny.
Funnily enough, we're not alone. Angelina Jolie stepped out at the Producers Guild Awards in Beverly Hills this weekend sporting bouncy tresses that are almost identical to the Duchess of Cambridge's. And teamed with a black floor-length Michael Kors gown with lace sleeves, she's a dead ringer for the DoC. Could it be that Ange is the latest repli-Kate? If so, she follows in the footsteps of a whole host of Catherine clones, from Natalie Portman to Victoria Beckham, Katie Holmes and Kate Beckinsale. Didn't we tell you that ‘the Catherine’ is totally going to be the hairstyle du jour? Yes, we believe we did.
And the frenzy isn't only in Tinsel town. Aaron Carlo, Art Director at Headmasters, reveals that more and more women are desperate to join Kate's crew of glossy-haired ladies. 'There has been a huge increase in women coming into the salon requesting Kate Middleton’s signature look,' he tells us. 'For most women between 20 and 30 years old, this style seems to be top of their wish list. In particular, I get lots of requests for the iconic finish of her hair: clean, luxurious and characterised by beautiful shine and lustrous body. Clients frequently bring in pictures of the Duchess and Headmasters has seen a whopping 18% rise in blow-dry appointments since the Royal Wedding.' Wowee.
While it sure helps to have a professional blow dry to achieve the look and pricey extensions certainly play a part for the rich and famous, a flurry of high-street hairdressers including Headmasters, Hersheson and Hari’s (as well as other salons not beginning with 'H') now offer affordable blow-dry bars that can give you those lustrous locks and clip-in extensions for extra volume.
Easier said than done we hear you cry. While it’s no secret that there’s more than the occasional a professional blow dry and odd hair extension behind these celebrity barnets a veritable flurry of high-street salons including Headmasters, Hersheson and Hari’s now offer affordable blow-dry bars that can provide you with lustrous locks and even the odd clip in extension too.
