Yesterday we swooned at Gwen Stefani’s amazing take on Hollywood glamour and pondered how we might be able to work the trend into our daily beauty routine. Now, before we know it, we discover that Lady Gaga has gone and jumped on the beauty bandwagon too, joining the flurry of red carpetters working the look recently.
Did their inspiration come from the Spring/Summer 2012 catwalks, the recent release of fabulous movie My Week With Marilyn, or are they simply copying each other? Either way, we want in.
Today, because it’s nearly Christmas, because we’re in the mood and well, just because we can, we’ve taken 10 minutes away from our computers to play in our beauty cupboard, get in a glamorous mood and ponder our ultimate top 3 lip tips.
Beauty Director Liz Hambleton:
'I chose Maxfactor Colour Elixir Lipstick in Ruby Tuesday. The secret to a successful red lip lies in the blotting; I blot 3 times and always use blotting paper rather that tissue as it makes for a much better finish.'
Beauty Editor Lauren Murdoch Smith:
'I'm wearing Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Fire and Ice. I begin with a layer of the amazing Lucas PawPaw Ointment to ensure a smooth surface and tend to keep a red mouth blurred at the edges as it wears better.'
Beauty Writer Rose Beer:
'I love Dolce and Gabanna The Lipstick in Magnifica. If working a full-on red lip is too much, try using a forefinger to pat on the colour for a sheer and supremely modern take on the trend.'
We dare you to give it a go!
