Can you believe it, this is Marc Jacobs first ever TV commercial? No. We didn’t think it would have been either, but apparently it is. And, come to think of it, we can’t recall any TV campaigns of his. So. It’s a little charming vignette for his fragrance Daisy. It was directed by TJ Wilcox and Juergen Teller and it stars a trio of models. Cute Frida Gustavsson and Sophie Srej are captured by Teller’s lens in a meadow full of daisies in Southern Spain, grinning with their hair rippling in the breeze and waving giant, oversized bottles of Marc Jacobs scent. They are wearing broderie anglaise smocks and no makeup. It’s very pastoral.
In another frame, model Hannah Holman pulls off the rather acrobatic feat of lying atop a horse, while also clutching one of the huge bottles and not falling off. Well done Hannah! It’s basically the print ad come to life, with a wistful soundtrack of Dream A Little Dream Of Me, but we’re so impressed with the horse balancing, we’re giving it top marks! It’s better than a lot of the cliched perfume ads we have to endure in the run up to Christmas at least.
