Sienna Miller, actress, designer and boho-chic pioneer was in Los Angeles last night, being honoured with a Global Activist Award 'for her remarkable commitment to, and advocacy for, those in greatest need' for goodness sakes, and we couldn't even concentrate on her humanitarian chops because we were so mesmerised by her excellent Sixties flicked smoky eyeshadow. (We know: we're soo shallow).

Anyhoo. Here's what's lovely about this look: it's totally on-trend for the whole Sixties trend this season (we're obsessed), only with none of the hard-edged thickness that's sometimes achieved with liquid eyeliner or kohl pencils (we're thinking: Amy Winehouse; God Rest Her Soul). This is a softer look; perfect for pretty-pretty freckly blondes like Ms Miller, (who was wearing a sheer-sleeved black playsuit by her label Twenty8Twelve) and for sophisticated evenings like, say, a gala where you're being honoured with an award for something or other (what was it again?).

So, here's how to recreate this look...
1. Prep
Prep eyelids with an eyeshadow primer, such as Clinique's Touch Base For Eyes, let dry and then layer with a soft shimmery moisturising base colour such as Clinique's Lid Smoothie Antioxidant 8-Hour Eye Colour in Pinko Biloba, blending right up to the browbone.
2. Shadow
With a dark charcoal eyeshadow, such as Clinique's Colour Surge Eye Shadow Stay Matt in Slate, start at the centre of the upper lid, blending gently out accross the lid, right up to the crease line. Be sure to blend the colour right into the lash line. Without adding any more shadow to the brush, blend upwards from the centre of the crease, always keeping the edge of the cats' eye 'wing' parallel with the diagonal slope of the outer crease line.

3. Highlight
Using a shimmery highlighter, such as Colour Surge Eye Shadow Soft Shimmer in Sugar Sugar, blend gently with a soft brush - Clinique's Eye Contour Brush is perfect - from the inner corner to centre of the lid, right up to the creaseline. Leave the outer crease unblended to keep that fabulous cats' eye shape... Make sure your 'wings' match and edit with a cotton bud if necessary.

5. Liner
Wet a fine eyeliner make-up brush such as Clinique's Eye Definer Brush and using a matt black shadow, such as Clinique's Colour Surge Eye Shadow Stay Matt in Midnight, line your upper lash line. Using the same method, line the lower lashline.

6. Flick
Again using the matt black shadow, flick out a short, fine line from the edge of your eye at a diagonal angle which should end pointing at the outer edge of your brow. Again, make sure your eyes match and edit with a cotton bud if necessary. Looking down into the mirror gives a better look at the symmetry of your flicks.

7. Lashes
Add some subtle false lashes, and brush with lash primer and major mascara, such as Clinique's Lash Building Primer and a couple of layers of Clinique's Clinique's Power Mascara Long-Wearing Formula in Black Onyx.

8. Voila!
Add soft pink blusher such as Clinique's Blushing Blush Powder Blush in Pink Love and a soft pink lipcolour such as Clinique's High Impact Lip Colour SPF15 in Toasted Rose and dazzle the assembled company with your kittenish radiance...
