Olivia Wilde, actress, tweet queen and Revlon spokesmodel, stepped out at the premiere of her new movie Butter in LA, yesterday sporting a peachy-sweet dress from Louis Vuitton's Spring Summer 2012 collection...and a headful of fuzz.
Unbelievably, frizz is fast becoming THE new finish for catwalk hair 'dos. Forget your quest for perfect, sleek locks, it's all about carefree candy-floss hair right now. First spotted at Erdem a year ago (above), with Heidi plaits worn with a dishevelled windblown wispiness, the bird's nest look has been gathering momentum on the catwalks ever since - it seems groomed glossy hair is just tooo try-hard for the high end fashion brands.
Team Grazia Daily had a lesson in messy hair just before London Fashion Week this season (above). We headed over to see the girls at Charles Worthington to get our cute Heidi plait up-'dos did. Imagine our dismay when, having given us the perfect not-a-hair-out-of-place 'dos, our stylists proceeded to stick their hands in our barnets and massage our heads until full-on fuzziness ensued 'and it'll look even better once you've slept the night on it!' they trilled. We left, looking cool but feeling bemused: isn't frizz something you're supposed to fight?
Apparently not. Ditch-the-serum styles were all over the Spring Summer 2012 catwalks - from well-worn Heidi plaits alongside the romantic eveningwear at the usually supersleek Valentino (above, top left), to tatty chignons at Cavalli (above, top right), bird's nest bouffants at Fendi (above, bottom left), and messy fishtail braids created (and then decimated) by Orlando Pita at Michael Kors (above, bottom right).
In recent weeks, A-list starlets have been road testing the look on the red carpet - with Twilight's Nikki Reed (above left) and fashionista actress Elle Fanning (above right) both showcasing Heidi braids in varying degrees of messiness.
Back on last night's red carpet, Wilde was probably channelling the very 'do that had originally appeared on the Spring Summer 2012 Louis Vuitton catwalk (below); a glamorous French pleat punked up with a halo of fuzz (above) by backstage hair god Guido Palau.
And we gotta say, on Miss Wilde, this wispiness has a certain kitten-like prettiness.
But what do you think of Olivia's undone updo? Have you made the switch from glossy to frizzy? And if so, how do you do it?
