Rihanna's Hair is Back to Sleek and Chic - We Review Her Hair-volution!

Normally, Grazia Daily is pretty good at reading Rihanna’s hair do - it's either glam or diva, sexy or don’t mess, etc. But we’ve been entirely thrown by the style she stepped out with yesterday. Of all the bobbed, lobbed, plaited, curly, extensioned (we could go on) looks she's called upon, it was the dark brown, ever-so-slightly mushroom-shaped pixie crop that she chose. Say whaaa? We’ve not seen this one since she went all 'Umbrella-ella-ella' on us in, like 2008! Yes, it’s chic in a Victoria Beckham stylee, very grown-up for the typically saucy songstress and screams 'I’m serious!', but in our opinion it’s not her finest hair moment, especially after that mighty red bouffant that we've become so attached to. So why has the hair chameleon returned to this tried-and-tested style, hmm?

Perhaps it's got something to do with Rihanna's career in Popland. Remember she once said, 'when I cut my hair, [my] whole sound changed.' So you see, Ri-Ri's follicles have the power to dictate her direction, which makes us wonder what chopping off her locks could mean for her music...

One thing's for sure, the songstress has got THE.BEST hair-drobe out there. Unlike other women who have reached the pinnacle of celebrity thanks to their ‘do (think Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel cut, Mia Farrow’s pixie crop and Alice Dellal’s undercut, par exemple), Rihanna has never limited herself to one trademark style.

Instead, she’s got a whole dressing room bursting with styles to suit her every whim, gown or mood. Remember when she sported a ginormous blonde quiff a-top an undercut at the Grammy Awards in 2010? Or how about when she went as stripey as a skunk with blonde and black streaks? FABNESS!

Before that, Rihanna first proved her edginess by sporting a glossy style in jet black and who could forget the Walnut Whip-esque bonce as displayed at Chanel's S/S '10 show? As for her first Met Ball outing in May 2009, she wore a pouffy Dolce & Gabbana suit to match her androgynous 'do that consisted of a side-swept fringe and glistening highlights. How's that for a reinvention?

Finally, let's rewind to 2005 when it all began and Rihanna was just 17 years old. Bless. The beautiful Bajan was Jay-Z's new prodigee, she'd never clapped eyes on a box of hair dye and her mane was a mass of frizzy curls >wistful< Oh, how far she's come and how many hairstyles she's nailed!

So which look do you think Rihanna should try next or, indeed, return to? We want to hear your verdict!
