Emily Blunt first won our fashwan hearts as Miranda Priestly’s mega-snooty, uber-skinny assistant in The Devil Wears Prada (hands up who watched that for the umpteenth time on telly last night). Then she went all regal on us as the haughty Young Victoria. And now the English beauty can add another string to her well-plumed bow as the new face of Yves Saint Laurent’s Opium fragrance.
As its name suggests, the addictive aroma has built quite the reputation since its launch during the disco-n-drugs-fuelled Seventies. Need we remind you of an alabaster Sophie Dahl, breast in hand and legs akimbo, wearing nothing but a pair of stilettos in 2000? Or the recent controversy-causing Belle d'Opium campaign starring Melanie Thierry cavorting about apparently in the throes of ecstasy? Well, exactly.
This makes us wonder whether the typically demure Ms Blunt will board the naughty and saucy bandwagon for the latest ad. Thanks to WWD, we know her campaign co-star is a LEOPARD (uh-huh), but what on earth will she be doing with it? Sans clothes and snuggled up a la Kirsten Dunst and Rachel Weisz for Bulgari, anyone? Or perhaps draped over it’s head in a Victoria Beckham stylee? Blimey, we can’t wait!
