Oh happy day! Diane Von Furstenberg is to launch her new woman’s fragrance in the UK later this year. GASP!
Here at Grazia HQ we are counting down the days until the UK press launch (where, it is rumoured, Diane herself will be in attendance) and squabbling over which member of our 4-strong beauty team will be the lucky lady to go. After all, our love affair with DVF has been a long one; we’re not far from obsessed with those dresses, that store in downtown New York and, of course, the lady herself. In fact, Grazia Beauty Director Liz Hambleton is oft heard quoting Diane’s famous line from The City, when she tells intern Whitney Port that 'absence is to love what wind is too fire.' SO wise, no?
Of the new scent called Diane, the designer told WWD that she 'wanted to put the power of women in a bottle. I wanted a perfume that reflected womanhood — what I know, what I feel about being a woman — and the power that we all have that we can be the woman we want to be.'
'I feel like in the past 10 years, people have forgotten the magic that a perfume can have, and the power that it has. And therefore, I definitely wanted to do something powerful and seductive, without being aggressive.'
Givaudan perfumer Aurélian Guichard is the nose behind Diane’s floral woody fragrance and there are two main elements in the juice: frangipani and violet. 'It’s the ying and the yang,' DVF said, adding that the contrast between the flowers is 'the way I see women.' We can't wait to give it a try.
